This soy wax candle evokes the scent of historic Dreamland, a 19th-century amusement park with ceremonial rose gardens, of smoke and wood, with clean leather undertones.
Burn time, approx 40 hours – 270ml
Out of stock
The most prominent memory that is widely shared from Dreamland is riding the large wooden railway style roller coaster which once had over half a million people use it every year. To experience this location is to walk around this monumental disused ride, itself a victim of arson, with the scent of burnt wood and charred leather surrounding you to then find yourself at the back of the site where there was once the ornamental gardens.
The fragrance of the burnt Dreamland ride gives way instead to the Victorian roses that are still growing where they were originally planted and have seen the amusement park in its journey from popularity to demolition and finally now to a resurrection as the remaining burnt ride is restored.
For the first time that you burn your Haeckels candle, allow it to burn for at least two hours, or until the whole top is liquid with wax. This allows for an even burn the next time it is used.
Top: intense and powdery floral
Heart : dry, smokey wood and leather
Base : clean floral undertone
Mycelium is the root system of mushrooms (fungi) and is usually found underground where, tiny white hyphae weave together like threads. Within our packaging, these threads intertwine with agricultural waste such as sawdust, flax and hemp husks and are left to grow into a mould for a period of time. As the mycelium grows, it binds the waste together to form a firm structure. It is then removed from the mould and left to grow for an additional short period of time, so it takes on the lovely velvety texture. Once it has been dried, the final product is lightweight and impact resistant. After use, it can be reused, composted or planted in your garden to improve soil quality.
Our seed paper is made from recycled paper pulp mixed with wild flower seeds. For the green-fingered, place the paper on top of a pot of compost and water well. Make sure the paper has access to light and warmth and keep the soil moist. Once the seedlings have grown large enough, transfer them to your garden for the birds and bees to enjoy.
