Benefits
Key Ingredients
Palmaria palmata (Dulse) extract
Dulse is a red macroalgae that grows in abundance on the Kent coast. Extracts of dulse have shown antioxidant properties, and the mycosporine-like amino acids produced by the seaweed have also been studied for their UV protecting properties.

Made with Palmless™ Torula Oil, a biodesigned moisturising oil that leverages naturally occurring microorganisms and fermentation to create a luxurious oil. Torula Oil is packed with triglycerides that keep skin smooth and supple with unique properties to drive enhanced performance.
Avena sativa (Oat) kernel extract
This moisturising, anti-pollution extract has been shown to renew and protect the natural skin barrier, as well as reduce visible stress-induced skin redness. It has also been shown to boost the content of hyaluronic acid in the epidermis, improving the elasticity of the skin.

FAQ
Is this suitable for facial use?
Yes. This is a facial sunscreen, not intended for use on the whole body.
Does it leave a white caste?
No. This sunscreen is formulated without the UV filters that typically cause a chalky or ashy caste on the skin, which means it is suitable for all skin tones.
How much should I use?
We recommend using between 1-2 ml of sunscreen to cover your face to ensure the right level of protection.
What type of skin is this suitable for?
This product is a lightweight and non greasy formulation, designed to be suitable for a wide range of skin types without sitting too heavy on the skin.
When should I use it?
We recommend using Seaweed Solar Protect SPF 50+ every day in every environment, before every exposure to the sun. Apply as the last step in your routine before make up.
What products should I use this with?
Seaweed Solar Protect SPF 50+ works well with all of our products, and we especially recommend using this if you are a frequent user of retinol products or AHA products (like our Earth Marine AHA Toner).
Is it waterproof?
This product is not certified waterproof, but we recommend applying before every exposure to the sun, and reapplying frequently to maintain protection.
Is this product suitable for children?
This product is not designed for children.
Is this product pregnancy-safe?
The product uses essential oils and organic UV filters, which some people like to avoid during pregnancy, but ultimately whether this product is suitable for you during your pregnancy comes down to you and your doctor.
Is it reef-friendly?
Considering the current evidence on the effect of UV filters on coral, we don’t believe it responsible to call any sunscreen product “reef-friendly” or “reef-safe”, as the evidence on the environmental effects of UV filters on coral reefs is inconclusive, with both chemical and mineral filters showing damage to coral in lab studies, and limited studies to replicate this effect in nature.
We recommend covering up wherever you can, staying in the shade, and limiting the volume of UV filters that can enter the sea, especially in locations with delicate reef environments! Here’s a real deep dive:
What about endocrine disruptors?
All ingredients in Seaweed Solar Protect SPF 50+ are certified safe for intended use, have robust evidence to support ingredient safety, and there is not sufficient or conclusive evidence to suggest any of the individual UV filters have endocrine disrupting effects in humans.
For example, in June 2021, the EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety in June 2021 declared there is no sufficient evidence that identifies pure homosalate as an endocrine disruptor in humans, and further declared that in-vivo research has confirmed that homosalate has no genotoxic, phototoxic or photosensitive effects when applied topically.
We recognise further research is necessary (it always is!), and we will always follow the evidence. For more information on potential endocrine disrupting effects of sunscreens, read this article:
