EARTHING: A crafted ecological experience through bio-based materials.

EARTHING: A crafted ecological experience through bio-based materials.

For this year’s London Craft Week, Haeckels is reimagining the home as a space for environmental reflection, facilitating dialogues around hopeful futures.

Eleven artists and designers have been assembled through a multi-sensory exhibition combining scent, space and sound to showcase a collection of alternative works. Their making processes, bio-sourced and blended with craftsmanship aim to examine eco-systems and challenge environmental impact on earth — from which everything is born and everything returns.

An audio piece written and narrated by Why Materials Matter author and materials translator Seetal Solanki guides visitors around Haeckels House, delving into how these materials are shaping craft, design, art, people, and the planet.

You will hear narratives of preserving, co-creating, unearthing, recovering, mining, repairing, foraging, recontextualising, reacquainting, and weaving. Visitors are encouraged to share their thoughts and learnings to continue the conversation.

Born in Margate, Haeckels exists as an amplifier of the natural world. Deeply connected and rooted in our environment and community, we are constantly looking forward – iterating and evolving to find new ways to approach beauty in a way that prioritises the well-being of both people and the planet.
